SARAH HYDE
E-RYT® 200, YACEP®
Hi, I’m Sarah (she/her). I’m a Seattle-based yoga and meditation teacher, a writer, and a lifelong student. I’m so glad you’re here!
I offer a wide array of practices including hatha, vinyasa, yin and restorative yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, sound baths and conscious connected breathwork. My goal is to provide a modern class experience that’s steeped in the history and philosophy of all eight limbs of yoga, helping students transcend the boundaries of an exercise class and step into something deeper and more profound.
My classes focus on breath and body connection, and listening to and honoring your own body and what it needs. Every class I teach is designed to be as accessible as possible, and my hope is that the spaces I hold feel welcoming to beginners as well as seasoned practitioners. I incorporate music and sound elements into my classes, and I love to spend a lot of time creating my playlists so they’re a mix of genres and eras. I also tend to laugh a lot during class - yoga should be fun!
I became a yoga student in 2012, at a time when anxiety and depression were taking over my life. I’ve always enjoyed a good, sweaty workout, but I was looking for something more contemplative, something physically challenging that would also support me on my inward journey of healing and growth. This practice has made my life so much richer than I could have imagined. When nothing else can quiet the mind or still the body, coming to your mat can. All you have to do is show up. Everything we do in my class is an offering, and all levels are welcome.
After growing up in the midwest and northeast, I moved to the left coast in 2010 and found my perfect home in Seattle, where I live with my partner and our very large son, a yellow lab named Baker. I spent almost 20 years of my professional life working in non-profit communications and marketing, primarily in higher education. In 2018, I left my full-time marketing gig and signed up for a yoga teacher training program, unsure of what the future held for me. And now, I find myself building a new career as a yoga and meditation teacher. And, despite the challenges of building a small business during pandemic years, I have never been happier!
A nomad and travel junkie, I’ve visited almost all 50 states and I’m working my way through all the many, many destinations on my bucket list. The city I can’t stop repeat-visiting is Paris. The place I’m dying to see is Africa. I’m a hardcore night owl; I enjoy a hot cup of tea or a glass of wine, all things arts-related, knitting and the coldest, darkest, snowiest weather. I am deeply attached to my dog, and I’m drawn to the sad movies and books and music. When I’m not teaching, writing or creating, you'll find me practicing yoga, taking a long walk, listening to podcasts or records, doing a puzzle, practicing piano or guiltar rather poorly, or, more often than not, just reading a good book.
