Hi.

The streets of Manhattan

Ah, New York. The city I've never lived in but that still feels like a place I used to live. I spent so many years traveling to the city to visit best friends and to do work, and then it became a place I like to visit to escape every now and then. I love the way you can be surrounded by more people in New York than anywhere else in this country, yet still feel completely alone. I'm sure that can be incredibly isolating at times for people who do live there, but for me, as a frequent visitor, it's a much-needed opportunity to get completely out of my normal life and spend some quality time with myself. And let's face it - there is no better day than one spent walking through Central Park with nowhere in particular to be.

It's been more than a year since I was last in the city - way too long. Actually, now that I'm really thinking about it, it's coming up on two years since I've been to New York. No wonder I'm feeling the itch. And that's why I'm pondering a very, very short-notice trip - potentially one of the most last-minute excursions I've taken to date.

Is there a spot in the world where you like to go to escape?
