Let's get lost.
Getting lost is only scary if it happens by accident.
That's something I've been thinking about lately. My book, Lullaby, is about getting lost, on purpose, as a way of finding out your inner truth. I love that concept, that sometimes we have to take a break from everything we have known, all the rules we've established for ourselves and our lives, and just completely change direction for a little while. It doesn't always go well, but you can't actually step outside your norm without learning a few things.
This month, I'm getting lost in NaNoWriMo. Not starting a new project but picking my new book project back up. I started it last year and have a good 25k words, but I know where the story is going and just want to get it on paper, at least a stab at it. Historically, using the concentrated time of NaNoWriMo and the word count targeting on their website have really helped motivate me.
So we'll leave Kate and Ethan snuggled cosily up in New York this fall, while I travel to Paris, Barcelona, and San Francisco with Melanie. Stay tuned.
